Jonah’s Second Month

One Month
to
Two Months

At this stage of life, Jonah is nursing every three hours. I would also formula feed him when it was convenient, like on trips or outings. I was so grateful he would take a bottle, and was fine with breast milk and formula.

He is still such a loud grunter! At the gym day care, I started taking him at eight weeks, and they said he just kept grunting. While sharing a room with him on our trips he would grunt so much it would wake me and Jason and up. It’s a miracle the boys didn’t wake up to it.

We started seeing some smiles here and there at six weeks old.

By seven weeks old, Jonah started to get some long stretches of sleep during the night. I would nurse him to sleep around 10:00 pm and would sleep until about 5:30 or 6:30 am. It was wonderful!

Jonah definitely had moments of fussiness. I wouldn’t always know what was wrong, but sometimes it was because of his diaper. He was very sensitive to a cold, wet, or messy diaper. Sometimes he would get upset when he was overtired. I would have the best luck by swaddling him after he had been awake for an hour or so, and once he started fussing a little in my arms, or once I noticed him being still and staring off, I would walk around with him until he would fall asleep. Then I would put him in the little cradle in my room for a nap. I was grateful that sometimes I could get big naps out of him that way, like a two or three hour nap! While on our trip to California and staying at Alli’s, I remember taking turns with Nancy and Alli, walking around with him for like 30 minutes, swaddled, sitting upright in our arms, facing outwards in a sitting position. That seemed to be the best position for him to stop being fussy and to help him fall asleep. We walked around with him for awhile to get him to sleep. It was quite the process.

He did amazing sleeping in the van on our road trip to California! He slept most of the drive. He also did amazing sleeping while at the beach at Oceanside and sleeping in the stroller in his carset while at Legoland. It was so great!

Jonah started getting some chub in his thighs. It was very cute. Generally, Jonah was quite a skinny baby.

Jonah still had some baby acne, but it was way better than it was!

Jonah started losing his hair and also getting long tufts of hair on the top of his head.
