Colson 3.5 to 4

three and a half
to
four
(May 6 - November 6)

There are so many things I have loved about Colson during this stage of life!

He is starting to “pretend play” on his own, with figurines, hamsters, cars, trains, etc. It is great!

He loves the “van car”. That is what he calls our new mini van.

Colson is loving soccer with Lindon City and he is doing awesome! He is great at dribbling and has scored several goals at the game. He is a natural and everyone cheers and loves him! Especially great is his cute little smile and thumbs up every time after he scores. It is adorable! He loves wearing his soccer clothes and can put on his shin guards, socks, and shoes on his own! He actually demands it! It’s great for me and actually really impressive. Those suckers are tight and tough to get on. Charlie still needs help, but Colson has it on his own.

His napping seems to be happening about every other day. On the days he doesn’t nap, he goes down better for bed at night...that is unless we drive somewhere far in the evening, then he always falls asleep and is so cranky waking up and has a hard time falling to sleep at night.

Jason loves and laughs that Colson relaxes with his leg up on his knee.

He can make some pretty good Donald Duck noises with his mouth.

Colson is getting more mischievous! He is always wanting to wrestle or pester Charlie. He is always asking for it, and of course he often ends up getting hurt.

this one is still a faint scar to this day

When Colson gets frustrated with Charlie he will yell, “Charlie!” It is hilarious!

Once Jonah was born, Colson stopped napping. He didn’t nap during his adventures with tending grandparents, and then I kept losing track of time once he was back home with all of the new baby responsibilities, so his naps came to a sudden end.

Adventures with Grandparents:

We started a new bed time routine for Colson and Charlie. Colson bathes upstairs while Charlie showers downstairs. While we put Colson to bed, Charlie reads a books downstairs. Once Colson falls asleep, we send Charlie to bed. It is working SO MUCH BETTER!

Colson likes to whisper little secrets to me. Usually his secret is a small voice saying, “I love you.” Talk about heart-melting! I have also caught him whispering that same message to baby Jonah. It is so sweet! Colson is very cute with Jonah and loves interacting with him. There was one cute moment when Jonah was sitting in the Bumbo on the counter while I was making a smoothie and Colson covered Jonah’s ears with his hands so Jonah wouldn’t be scared by the sound of the blender. It was so cute to see them looking at each other and to see Colson’s little hands on Jonah’s little ears.

Colson has said a few times to different people that Jonah came out of Mommy’s penis. It is hilarious.

One day after school Charlie told Colson that he would give him fifty cents if he answered a question correctly. The question was, “What is two plus one?” Colson’s answer was, “Purple.”

Colson started preschool with Miss Laura next door and he absolutely LOVES it! He had been waiting and waiting for his turn to start school, and his day finally came. He loves the Bookie Bags they get each week with corresponding stuffed animals. His first animal was a polar bear and he slept with it that night.

He loves egg salad sandwiches right now. He will request them almost every day for lunch. He helps by cracking, smashing, and mixing the eggs in the salad.

Colson can lightly snap his fingers. He is really good at figuring out things like that. He can also pump himself on the swings and can get really high. He is so proud of himself and loves doing it. He also did pretty well with swimming lessons and loved it.

trying his luck at another skill

Colson is such a natural little fisherman! He is so dang patient and loves being there right with Dad. I love seeing it, and Dad is in heaven!

One of Colson’s new friends from preschool, Anson, invited Colson to his birthday party. Anson is one year older than Colson. Colson was so excited to be invited to his first birthday party, after seeing Charlie go to a couple.

Colson can write his name, but that is the only word he can write (and the only letters he knows). He is starting to be able to draw stick figures. He doesn’t particularly love coloring or drawing; his hands seem to get tired quickly. He prefers painting. When he is coloring, he will often complain and ask me to help him.

Here are more pictures from the past six months:

Sometimes Colson sucks so hard on drink bottles that he gives himself a hickey!

(sadly) his very first dentist visit...shockingly no cavities!
