As I mentioned in the May blog post, the next month or two were kind of a blur as we moved and started settling into our new house and neighborhood! I was not able to keep up and write any notes for myself of the “goings-on” of this summer. So I will have to base my memories off of the pictures that were taken.
We got to stop by and unload a few things the last day of May. We showed the house to George and Nancy before they took the boys home with them. George brought his homemade cinnamon rolls for us to enjoy. We also prepped the house a bit to help with the flow of unpacking.
my moving label system - each box had a color and letter so we knew where to put it
We officially moved in Saturday, June 1st! We were so grateful for so many helping hands, both in packing up in Orem and dropping off in Lehi. We were able to get it all done pretty quickly! This is what the action and home looked like.
Our moving day also happened to be Jonah’s first birthday! We were happy that Jonah was in very fun hands that day since we wouldn’t be able to celebrate until a couple of weeks later. Luckily Jonah didn’t know the difference. George and Nancy tended the boys for the first day or two while we moved in. They also took the boys to their last soccer games. They were able to bring the kids on moving day as well for a couple of hours after the moving truck had been unloaded.
Jonah loved the water table he got from his birthday
The days were filled with a combination of unpacking, creating our new home, and exploring what our new surroundings had to offer. We especially loved exploring the Jordan River trail that was right by us and connected to the trail that ran along the Utah Lake. I was so excited that this trail was just a few minute bike ride from our house.

meeting the neighborhood wildlife - two wild peacocks "live" across the street and can be heard early in the morning. (We left a neighborhood with two "Peacock" families, and entered one with two wild peacocks)
Charlie turned 7! We had a great day with a yummy breakfast, a new soccer goal, building his new lego sets, building a fort with the empty moving boxes with his new friends (Brody & Brooks), Grandma A stopped by for a visit and a gift, and we had dinner at Pizzeria Limone.
Despite my encouragement, Charlie told me he didn't want to have a party. He was nervous about doing something like that with the new friends on the street. But last minute, he changed his mind. I was glad, but of course suddenly very busy. We had a fun party in the back yard with laser guns, soccer, water guns, water balloons, pizza, and popsicles.
We had a combined birthday celebration with family for Charlie and Jonah. It was fun to host a big event at our new house.
