Colson 2.5 to 3

Two and a half
to
Three

(May 6 - November 6)

At this stage of Colson’s life, there are many things that he loves! He loves swinging in the kiddie swing, spinning, and also kicking the big blue ball that we pass to him in the swing. He still loves fishing and will stay by Dad’s side while Dad fishes, as long as it takes. He will request to have a turn, constantly.

Colson loves riding Charlie’s new scooter from Charlie’s birthday, and he is dang good at it too! He can go pretty fast. He will use the toe of his shoe to slow to a stop. It’s hilarious. On a daily basis he wants to go “round, round”...meaning he wants to ride the scooter around the block, not just the driveway.

On a frequent basis, after putting Colson to bed he will wait for a bit for Charlie to fall asleep and he will crawl into bed with Charlie. Colson will usually crawl up and sleep along the wall. When Jason and I finally head to bed, we find Colson in there with Charlie and carry his limp, sleeping body into his own bed. This probably happens more nights than not. And sometimes he is not found until morning.

same shirt, yet different night

Colson always requests yogurt and granola first thing in the morning. He is what wakes us up in the mornings, bright and early around 6:30 or 7:00 am. He will come in and lay with us for a minute before requesting his cereal and to watch a show.

the rare occasion he actually falls back asleep in our bed
(don't be fooled, it's light but the time is 6:50 am)

He is not so interested in just being a helper anymore, he is more interested in having me come “play with him”. I can’t distract him with my tasks anymore, he just wants to play toys. He will cry until I come play with him.

On September 12th we started potty training him. We got him some new underwear and he really liked those. We bribed him with M&Ms. It was pretty dang easy with Colson. We had already had him going on the potty before bath time each night. He can already pee standing up (but he usually sits down...he’s pretty short). He can poop without any fear or hesitation. He only had two accidents the first day and then he was pretty good after that. Here and there he will get a little wet with premature pee, but he can really hold it for a long time. He wore pull ups for naps, bed, and any long drives. Within a month he was napping in his underwear just fine. He had also gone several times through the night with dry pull ups. Hooray for successful potty training!

In October, we got out the Wii for the boys to enjoy and we came to find that Colson LOVES it! At this point he especially loves Mario Kart. He can actually make it around the laps one or two times before all the other characters finish. Quite impressive for an almost three year old!

He also loves trying to play computer games, like on PBS Kids or Disney Jr.

Lover of all games!

He loves playing figurines, as well as most other toys and puzzles.

Colson is doing great with talking and words.

We did a Parent Child swimming lesson session at the Orem Fitness Center. He did great, a little timid, but it was great giving him the experience and exposure to the water to increase his confidence. I was shocked he was able to learn how to climb out of the side of the pool, even when the water was too deep to touch. I was very impressed.

A funny story about Colson, when he is sitting on the toilet and lets out small toots, he calls them “flat tires”. It is just hilarious!

As you saw in the previous post, for Colson’s birthday, all he asked for was a fruit snack cake and balloons. He didn’t ask for any toys, he just cared about the fruit snack cake and balloons. Very cute!

Here are more pictures from the past six months:

While visiting Aunt Erin and Great Grandma Arbon, we found Colson had shut himself in with the dogs. He loves them!
