October 2017 - Fall Festivals and Halloween

Jason continued to stay busy at work and even brought on and trained a new employee to help with the load.

We attended our first Fall festival of the season at Sun River Gardens. We had a good time painting pumpkins, drinking free apple cider, riding ponies, and the storytelling in the teepee.

We had a play date with my old friend Aubrey. We’re talking back from the elementary days. She moved away to California when were kid, but currently lives in Utah with her husband and daughter, Lucy. We went met up at Farm Country for a fun activity.

On October 4th I took a pregnancy test, confirming my suspicions that I was indeed pregnant! My due date would be June 8th! We were both very excited as we had been hoping of for this for many months.

We had Parent Teacher Conference for Charlie. He is doing so great in Kindergarten! His teacher, Mrs. Jones, said that she had no concerns except he often just stands around during Choosing Time. Here they get to choose from a list of activities once they complete their work; he seems to be too insecure to jump in with an activity group that has already begun. His teacher also let me know that his Speech Support people were considering dropping his extra help because he was doing so well. He listens to instructions and gets right to work while staying on task. This was such great news! We are very proud of Charlie!

We had a game night with our PG group. We had dinner at Kohinoor and then headed back to Bairds for a game of Sushi Go. Kim and Kyle tended the boys for us.

We celebrated my dad’s birthday! We had a Sloppy Joe dinner at our house and then went to the Provo Corn Maze. We didn’t arrive there until 9:00 pm (thanks to Bryan's late work schedule)., which is quite an adventure for a group with such young children. However, everyone, including the boys, braved the bitter cold and really had a fun time. We were one of the last groups to enter the corn maze for the evening. After completing the maze, we had hot chocolate ready for us in the back of the car.

Charlie’s school had a free school skate night at Classic Skating. We kind of decided to go last minute. We rented a scooter for Charlie, since Colson always rides Charlie’s new one from his birthday (I’m shocked he is such a good sport about it), and this rental definitely fit Charlie better. The boys cruised around and had a blast. It was actually hilarious...and terrifying as so many young kids were speeding around the rink. It’s a miracle there weren’t more injuries or collisions!

We were able to continue our play dates with Roman, Holden, and Lucy Markle. Roman also had afternoon Kindergarten like Charlie, so that made it perfect for weekly morning play dates.

We had the annual Primary Program (and accompanying practice). We were spoiled with the attendance of Gma and Gpa Arbon, Bryan, Gma and Gpa Gruber, and Karl! Charlie did a great job (and I, of course, was happy to have another program completed as a member of the presidency. This year was my year to write and head the program).

I went to Witch Night with my other PG friends (Kylie, Kara, and Stacee) at Gardner Village. It was a crack up! We loved having an excuse to get out, dance, shop, and eat yummy food. We got huge navajo tacos, and afterwards we went to the Baked Bear for a Polar Bear Hot Chocolate. A great night!

I had another girl’s night with some of my Freshman roommates. I met up with Alison, Megan, Bryton, and Jaleah at Slapfish in Lehi. It was really fun to catch up (it had been a REALLY long time since we had gotten together). I got the Ultimate Fish Taco and it was amazing!

Charlie had his first school field trip. They went to Nunn’s Park up Provo Canyon and did some activities there. He was thrilled.

And then it was Fall Break! This is where a lot of my notes of what we did get really sparse. Thanks to pregnancy and morning sickness, my ability to keep up with writing down our activities really diminished (as well as the activities themselves)!

We went to Cornbelly’s with the Grubers (while George and Nancy were watching the Riverton Grubers and Max and April were in Hawaii). That quickly became a new favorite for the kids. It was so impressively huge and quality fun! No wonder why it is so expensive! We loved it and knew we would return again next year.

Grandma Arbon helped us make Halloween costumes for the boys. Charlie wanted to be a ghost, so she helped us sew some old sheets, one for Charlie and one for Colson. They turned out great and they were so simple!

We attended Darnel and Meeya’s wedding sealing, ring ceremony, and reception. Their reception was a huge event in true Polynesian style! They had the complete buffet and entertainment! It was great fun! Charlie made an adorable ring bearer for their ring ceremony!

We attended our Ward Halloween Party. The boys always really enjoy running a muck with the other kids.

We went to Jakers for the first time, a fall festival/pumpkin patch in Springville. Again, the boys just ate this all up! October is definitely becoming a favorite time of year for us.

And then the magical day arrived! Colson and I went and helped walk with Charlie’s Halloween parade at school. That was a lot of fun to walk through the classes and see all of the wonderful costumes. Colson got a lot of attention in his cute Tiger costume. That evening we had family come over for dinner of Taco Soup. Grandma and Grandpa Gruber stopped by, as well as Karl. The Arbon family also came, did some trick-or-treating with us, ate treats, and watched the season two opener of Stranger Things. It was another great Halloween!
