Colson 3 to 3.5

Three
to
Three and a half

(November 6 - May 6)

Colson loves ALL electronic games. We are talking Wii, Nintendo, iPad, Computer...it doesn’t matter what kind of screen or form it is in, Colson loves it. His main obsession at this point in time is Super Mario Brothers on the Wii. He calls it the icing game because you can throw ice and freeze things.

While Colson loves and is very good at electronic games, he is not as interested in academic things. He can sing maybe 50% of the alphabet on his own, but can't visually differentiate between letters. He can count to 10, and sometimes close to 20. He doesn’t color a whole lot, but at least when he does he tries holding the marker or crayon the correct way (pinch and tuck). He is able to stay pretty well in the lines, but it is a muscle strain for him. So it is always very short lived.

He continues to have one nap a day, but he always demands that I come in and sit in the chair and “nap” while he naps. At first I would just sit there for a bit and sneak looking things on my phone, but as I got more and more pregnant and more and more tired, I would fall asleep in that chair and literally nap with him almost daily for over an hour.

We moved him out of his room and into Charlie’s room on the bottom bunk to prepare for the new baby coming. He was very excited.

the old

the new

Colson loves tagging along anytime Charlie has friends over. Even if he is mostly ignored, he feels like he is part of the gang and is playing with them. There really aren’t any kids his age nearby in our neighborhood. For awhile he was the only Sunbeam in his Primary class. This made going to Primary more and more difficult.

Colson started soccer and he loved it! He was dang good too!

Here are more pictures from the past six months of Colson's life:

While Jason, Charlie and I were gone with the Arbons on a Disney Cruise, Colson stayed with the Grubers. He was a little sad realizing he would be the only one staying, but so excited to be with Grandma, Grandpa, and cousins. Here is a page of notes that Nancy kept for us of sweet and funny things that Colson said and did while we were gone:

This is what it said:

"January 2018 while Colson stayed with us while Jason, Emily, and Charlie were on a Disney Cruise with the Arbons:

Very tender little boy his first night. He went to bed ok but then about 30 min later he was crying so I went into his bedroom. He said, "I want Mommy, I want Charlie, I want Daddy to come home. I so sad!" He repeated it several times as we chatted. We talked about how they would come home in a few days and how happy Grandpa and I are that he is visiting with us and we talked about all the fun things we will do tomorrow. Then he said, "Mommy say I have a big drink of water. So I gave him one and knelt beside him and stroked his hair while he fell asleep. It was so tender!

He pinched his finger and said, "I have to tell Mommy 'bout that." When something impressive happens he says that...

We were cleaning up the living room and he finished his part first and immediately asked me, "You need some help over there?"

"I want Mommy, Daddy, Charlie come home. Taking too long."

When he's upset about something... He says, "I so, so sad."

I told him he couldn't have any more root beer and he cried. I told him that's not something you need to cry about. His response, "You making me so sad."

He and George were playing something and George said, "I can't do that as well as you." Colson's response, "When you grow up you can do it."

Up in Riverton, Colson got to be the one to choose who said the prayers...he loved it and even pointed to himself."

I am so grateful to Nancy for putting this sweet little note together. It gives an amazing glimpse of what Colson was like at this time of his life and what he was up to while we were away.

Here are the pictures from his stay:
