Jonah’s Eighth Month

seven months
to
eight months

(January 1 - February 1)

Jonah is definitely army crawling now, and he is very quick! With all of this movement, I have had to be very aware of him. I will need to get the gates up on the stairs as soon as possible. I also have to keep the doors closed to the bathroom and the laundry room because he likes to make his way over there. He is constantly on the move and so wiggly!

Jonah has started eating puffs that are broken in two. He is also eating pureed foods every few hours, like during our meals while sitting in the high chair. He prefers fruits over vegetables. He will also drink four to eight ounces of formula every three to four hours. I am completely done nursing, I am out of milk.

He is napping twice a day. The first nap is around 9:00 am and the second one is around 1:00 pm. His naps last from one to three hours, which is so nice! I will give him a bottle that is slightly warm and wrap his arms down in a swaddle while keeping his legs out. Then I will hold him while sitting in the recliner as he drinks and falls asleep. He either falls asleep at this point, or is very tired but still awake. I’ll lay him down in his crib and he will instantly turn to his side or belly if he is slightly still awake. If he is really conked out, he will just stay asleep as I lay him down. Every once and awhile he will still be too awake to sleep at this point, but will just cry for ten to twenty minutes before falling asleep.

He is sleeping well through the night and will go down around 7:30 pm. He sleeps at least until 5:30 am, when I will feed him then put him back to bed. If he sleeps until 6:30 am, he will wake up at that point. If he wakes in the night before 5:30 am, I let him cry and he falls back to sleep on his own within an hour (maybe less, but that is what I set my alarm for to check to see on the baby monitor that he fell asleep).

Changing his diaper has gotten so hard! He immediately tries to twist around once I lay him on the changing table. It is so hard and frustrating!

Jonah can sit for longer periods of time, but again, it doesn't take long for him to want to dive down onto the floor for something, so at that point he falls over.

His hair is still so fluffy and is getting really long. He needs another haircut.

His toots are no longer smelly, and even when he poops you can barely smell anything. Lately, he has had some tough poops; he is a little constipated. He will push and grunt with such a red face! If he is crawling around while pooping, he will straight-up plank on his belly and toes and just push and push while crying. It is so funny, but sad, to see.

Jonah has started sticking is tongue out a lot!

Here are some more pictures of Jonah from the past month:
