Remember when we ran into the road debris and messed up the front underside of our van? Remember when we got that fixed and got a rental? Well, when I went to pick it up, I noticed there were already some scratches on the area they had just fixed! The mechanic who had moved the van to the front of the lot had brushed it up against the curb, so there we were again getting another rental car while Cascade Collision Repairs fixed it up again.
And then it was Spring Break! The boys had a great time playing together at home. They did lots of Nintendo, Legos, playing with their stuffed animals (or buddies), light saber fighting, playing with friends, and playing laser tag. We went to the new Lehi neighborhood to see if there were any kids playing outside in the warm weather. As mentioned before, I went and talked to the would-be next door neighbors, the Savages. They had gone to high school at Lone Peak and were super nice. They had three boys, the oldest being one month older than Charlie. I talked to the parents while the boys already started hitting it off. I was really excited about that. On Sunday we checked out the last part of Sacrament Meeting for our potential new ward, the North Lake First Ward. We were a little unsure with the idea that the ward took in a 55+ community, however we were told that the primary was large. We did see a lot of gray and white heads from the back of the cultural hall. I have to admit that we didn’t choose the best Sunday to go since it was the beginning of Spring Break. However, the next week was General Conference, so it was our only option.

Back to the rest of Spring Break, there were a few days that were rainy, but the boys seemed happy playing together inside. On Tuesday night, I took the boys to a movie. We saw the third How to Train Your Dragon. They loved it and did really well. I quite enjoyed it myself, too! On Wednesday, we went swimming at the Lehi pool with Amy and Tess. Tess turned one that week. Charlie went to Kenyon’s birthday party on Thursday where they went to the movie theater and saw the new Dumbo movie.
That night, Amy and Oliver arrived from Colorado! They were here to take Oliver to his first live General Conference session. We met up with them in Riverton and watched Mya’s basketball game. We had some time to chat and we all ate at In-N-Out. On Friday, the boys and I met up with Amy, Oliver, and Karl at the Bean Museum. We had a fun time there and then walked around BYU campus before heading back to Alpine to welcome George and Nancy back from their California trip to help unload Alli’s storage stuff into the Gruber’s house. The Riverton crew also joined up that night and we had fun eating and playing laser tag.
Saturday was General Conference. We went to Draper just before Priesthood Session and had Cafe Rio. While the boys watched priesthood, the rest of us and Camry went to IFA to see the chicks and the baby bunnies. Kim and Kyle were not with us because they were away on a vacation to Washington DC. After Priesthood Session, we frosted Easter cookies and had a laser tag fight. We also did a short glow-in-the-dark Easter egg hunt.
Sunday morning we had conference again and ate cinnamon rolls. For the second session we headed to Alpine and met up with the rest of the Gruber gang. We had dinner and celebrated April and Alex’s birthdays. And then we played yet another game of laser tag, this time outside.
All the while the inspection and the appraisal was getting done on our new house and everything was looking good. The only issue was the outside back patio. Apparently it was not done properly where the roof meets the house. As mentioned previously, it turned out that Jason’s friend, Mike Monson, was the original builder. We settled on having him fix it and we split the cost with the sellers.
And before we knew it, our house was hit with a stomach bug. Jonah threw up and had diarrhea on Friday, by Sunday Colson and I had it. Then Charlie got it. Jason only had a bit of nausea and fatigue. Colson threw up the most and couldn’t keep anything down all day. Jonah continued to have diarrhea for a week then went right back to being his usual constipated self.
Season eight of Game of Thrones began! We were BEYOND excited! We couldn’t even wait for Tyson to get us an edited version. We got the seven day free trial of HBO so we could watch the first episode live. We did, however, wait for the edits for the following episodes.
I had another temple date with my PG girlfriends.
We got real busy deep cleaning our house getting ready to put it up for sale.
Charlie started summer soccer practice and Colson started the following week. They were both so excited. There was one boy named Andre who was on Colson’s winter indoor team that was now on Charlie's team. So that helped him feel comfortable right from the get go; that is always a plus. I was very happy about that. His coach also seemed awesome, Coach Daniel.
We got our house-selling pictures taken on Thursday and then got them back on Friday. They looked great. We spontaneously decided late that night that we wanted to go ahead and list our house the next morning since we would be gone all day anyway with Easter stuff and the house was pretty clean from taking the pictures. Our original plan was to list Monday, but again, since we would be gone, we figured why not. That ended up being the best choice we ever could have made! While we were away that day there were 11 showings and four offers, with more people hoping to see the house on Sunday and Monday. All of the offers came in higher than asking price. The comparable from our agent showed we should sell for $289K, but since we weren’t in a hurry, we thought we would try a few days at $295K to see if there were any takers (Jason’s idea). His idea definitely paid off. Two offers came at $300K, one offer came at $305K with $5K in closing costs, and one came in at $297K. We, of course, were thrilled! Late that Saturday night we discussed the offers with Melissa and chose an offer that was most financially stable and beneficial, as well as a family dynamic that we felt was most suitable for the cul de sac. It was a young, somewhat newly married couple moving from California. They didn’t have any children yet. I cannot express enough how relieved and excited I was that it went so well and so quickly! I’m pretty sure I was close to tears. I had been dreading and stressing the week of house showings, having to up and leave for an hour at any given time with three kids. How does anyone do that? So to have lucked out to get it all done in one day while we were all gone having fun was just unfathomable and completely incredible!

While our house was being toured and toured that day, we enjoyed a lovely day of springtime air, family, and Easter festivities. Early that morning we woke up to Easter baskets from the Easter bunny, then we headed straight to the annual Pyne Egg Hunt at Vivian Park. Then we dropped off a dresser and other things in Alpine before heading to the Gardens at Thanksgiving Point for the Tulip Festival. We had lunch at Trellis Cafe beforehand and had a great time. We had perfect weather. George, Nancy, and Karl were there with us. We went back to Alpine and had an Easter egg hunt, received baskets, and decorated sugar cookies. We ended up staying in Alpine longer than planned and had pizza there as we learned there were more and more house showings and we couldn’t go home until 8:30 pm. We were definitely floating on a high that weekend.
Easter Sunday was spent in Draper with my family with a delicious Sunday meal.
On Monday night, Tyson came over and brought an edited version of Star Wars Episode III. We ate Costa Vida, and after the movie, Tyson played Lego Star Wars with the boys on the Wii.
Charlie had a field trip to the Aquarium that he loved.
Colson had a field trip to the fire station.
Colson also started soccer practice for the season. His new coach was Coach Richelle. He loved it and did awesome.
We had a very busy day the day of Dylan and Noelani’s wedding. First we had their wedding at the Jordan River Temple. Then we headed down to Provo and had lunch at Molly’s before heading to Kyle’s graduation. For how much graduations are dreaded, Jason and I thoroughly enjoyed his graduation speaker. It was Ryan Smith, the owner of Qualtrics. He did an amazing talk on Being ALL IN. We have thought of that talk many times since and have even referenced it in a youth Sunday School lesson recently. After the graduation, we picked the boys up from Alpine (where they had been spending the day) and went to Dylan’s reception at Noah’s in South Jordan. It was seriously an amazing party with tons and tons of great food. The entertainment was endless and such fun. Polynesians really know how to throw a party.

And at the very end of the month we officially closed on our new house in Lehi! Such a great, exciting, and nerve racking feeling! We would be moving in the next month, on June 1st.
