SUMMER 2019 - Part II

The summer continued at our new house, spending lots of time focusing on our new home, new friends, and new surroundings. It was a great and busy summer!

We turned their old work out room into our Lego room. The boys spent nearly every morning down there, first thing they did when they woke up. I even put in a portable heater down there because it would be quite chilly in the morning. It was nice to have a separate room to be able to shut the door on the mess, and to have it separate from the other toys. It was also perfect to be able to keep Jonah out of the room, since he was at a stage of putting everything in his mouth.

our new TV...which seemed ridiculously and embarrassingly huge at the time, but it quickly became normal and we have loved it ever since. We couldn't imagine it smaller.

can you tell they have been watching America's Got Talent? That is thanks to Capri and Duke staying over.

Just a morning movie...the day before she went into labor. We saw the live action Beauty and the Beast.

always begging to do a stand

Got the new mantle we ordered, but that line down the middle just wasn't going to cut it. Jason ended up making one himself.

We were very excited to get the fireplace bricked and to fill in the hole/shelf! The decisions for that alone made me glad we didn't build our house! We got it bricked while we were gone camping. It was so fun to come home to a new fireplace!

So happy!

Jonah knows how to get what he wants

I enjoyed playing with an app that makes you look old, it looks so legit!

love seeing kids hanging around

Kim nannies for a family with a pool. We got to enjoy it with her one evening:

Nixon Schoepke, Brooks Savage, Brody Savage, Charlie, Colson

It's not always easy making friends and can be hard when you feel left out or shy, so we like to document the good friend days.

I love taking this trail by our house! It goes by Utah Lake, and if you take it further you go along the Jordan River.

A girls night with new friends at Cheesecake Factory to celebrate Heather's Birthday.

Tuttles were in town again and we got to host them for a part of it. We loved it!

treating them to one of our favorites...Seven Brothers

After two weeks of being gone camping, we were so confused coming home to piles and piles of these wet turds all over our backyard! Our apricot trees were completely demolished of fruit and there were pits everywhere at the base of the trees. We are talking hundreds! We were actually fine that the apricots were gone, but grossed out by all of the poop. We were so confused as to what animal was doing it! Were the peacocks flying over our fence and onto our trees? We were convinced that must be the case, but the majority of the poops were more of an orangey sludge rather than the typical Hershey's kiss we see from the peacocks. A week or so later my neighbor mentioned seeing two raccoons crossing from our house one night, and the truth of it hit us. It was raccoons! So gross!

I was very alarmed to learn the size of the spiders (Orb Weavers) around here each summer! Yikes! I let them live only because they eat the bugs. Their webs are pretty cool looking, but you have to watch out when you are weeding or moving around near trees and bushes. Their webs are everywhere. A pest control company is definitely needed regularly if you live around here by the lake.

my cousin Jamie got married.

I think we did a pool day at Provo Rec with Riverton Grubers, then Milagros for dinner afterwards.

We found out in June that Jonah would be needing glasses. I chose to wait until after camping to get him started on those. Here we are trying on some options.

exploring Patriot Park

We invited Jason's high school friends over for a BBQ and to see the new house. This may be the only picture we have of the night.

City Creek in Salt Lake

I just love the drive we take to our street - one of the selling points of the house.

We got to take a little swim at the Larsen's pool. Always a treat!

Here are some more looks at the house:

We also had an amazing Alpine Days with the Grubers. It looks like that will need to be a separate post, coming at you next!

I wish I had documented more of the summer happenings, but I think this picture round up does a pretty good job.
