June 2016 - Paintballing and Bathroom Remodel

Jason and John did some glass in one of the Parade of Homes houses again this year with their business Everlast Surrounds and Glass. It turned out really cool, and as usual, we loved exploring all of the amazing houses. There was definitely some cool stuff. We even went around with Mark and Jaleah one of the evenings.

A new season of the Bachelorette started up again. I was definitely going to watch this one since JoJo was my favorite from Ben’s season. The PG gang and I got together to watch it when we could. It is always more fun that way.

We had our annual paintballing game with Arbon cousins and friends. It is always such a blast and ends up being more fun than I remember. We had about 20 people. Charlie and Colson spent the night at my parents and stayed there through the next day. Darnel played with us this year, so we picked him up from the FrontRunner stop then headed to Dead Dog Field up Hobble Creek Canyon. Paul and Steve even came into town and that was so much fun. One of the highlights was playing a game where we were split up into groups of three and had to be the last team standing. Jason, Darnel, and I were a team and we ended up winning just as it started raining really hard. It was so thrilling and exciting.

This is the first year we have done it in June and so the grass was way longer than we had ever played in before. It was great for sneaking around, but not great for allergies:

Later, we met up with the Phillips and Arbon gang at Red Robin for dinner. Charlie and Lily always play really well together.

Charlie started swimming lessons at the Orem Rec Center. It was thirty minutes every day for two weeks. He didn’t really know what to think at first and did better when he couldn’t see me watching him, but once he relaxed a bit he had a good time. By the end of the two weeks, though, he was anxious to be done. He passed all of the skills (somehow), but probably spent most of the time bouncing in the water looking at the other swimmers. That swimming teacher definitely has it tough trying to keep that age group from wandering all over the pool. It’s pretty hilarious.

Grandpa Arbon started declining really quickly so we went to visit him several times. I will write more on that in the next post.

Jason started redoing the shower and tile in the downstairs bathroom. We had intended the shower replacement to be one of the first things we did when we moved in, but things have a tendency to become less important or to be put on the back burner. What really lit the fire was the fact that I was going to be hosting Girls Week in July, so we knew it was a good time to update it. Of course these kinds of projects always escalate to more than you originally plan. At first it was just going to be the shower, but then it became the tile, the toilet, the counter. And then of course you have to redecorate. Jason was very busy each night working on that, doing his own Everlast work, work on PicSkip, work on the yard, and time with the family. In the end, it turned out really great! I love it! There are still some things we want to do, like touch up the paint behind the toilet, paint the sink cabinet, and put some more pictures on the wall, but the important thing is we were done just in the nick of time for Girls Week.

We had a game night with some of our PG friends (Bairds, Gibbs, Paces). It was at the Paces this time. We had dinner at Wallabys and went to their house and played Tumbling Dice and Once Upon A Time (a storytelling game that wasn’t really any of our cup of tea, but atleast we tried it). No matter what we play, it is always a hoot with these guys. Kim and Kyle watched the boys for us.

I had a girl’s night with Stacee, Kylie, and Kara. It was so much fun! Stacee has connections at the Wynnsong and was able to get us in for free to see Me Before You. Such a fun night.

I was sustained as the 1st Counselor in the Primary.

And, of course, there is Father’s Day and Charlie’s Birthday, but I will write about those later. For now, you will just have to be satisfied with these garden update pictures:

Some surprise lilies that I did not plant.

The amount of strawberries waiting for us when we returned from Colorado!
We couldn't believe it.

More strawberries a week later.
We were swimming in strawberries this month.

And here are some more pictures from the month:
