We left Charlie in the best of hands! George and Nancy are no strangers to babysitting. It seems like Nancy’s entire summer is usually filled with watching the grandchildren for weeks at a time. Usually it is the Tuttle or Spencer kids, but this time we wanted a piece of the action. So, we left Charlie with Grandma and Grandpa Gruber for ten days while we were gone on the cruise. I knew he was in good hands and didn’t worry one bit. I also knew that Charlie was probably having a better time there with them than he usually did, so it was a win-win. Even though it is a big task tending a one-year-old for over a week, they acted like they couldn’t think of anything more enjoyable. It genuinely seemed like they had a good time. I love them and am so grateful for them!
Charlie was kept very busy. Nancy sent us email updates each day, with a picture or video, of what they had been up to. It was very exciting to finally get WiFi in Cozumel and see everything that had been going on. Charlie seemed so much older in the pictures! Here are some of Charlie’s adventures while we were gone: splashpad in Alpine, lots of playtime in a big house with LOTS of toys, being outside with lots of yard to roam in, lots of stroller rides, visits from Uncle Karl, pool time in the kiddie pool, eating grown-up cereal, staying the night with my Aunt Erin, Aunt Alli, Capri, and Duke came to stay, trips to walmart, fun with the Gruber cousins, being excessively supervised by his cousin, Elsa, and a visit from Great Grandma Gruber. He was definitely kept busy and happy! I was so glad to hear that he was a good boy, and even good at church on Sunday (you never know what you’re going to get there). Charlie, we are so lucky to have you in our lives and to have such an amazing family!
Farewell Charlie!
Sunday best
Charlie was introduced to whole peas and loved them!
Eating Grandpa's cereal
A new outfit from Aunt Erin
At the Grubers in Riverton - he loves playing the piano!
Reunited!
When we walked in to get Charlie, we were all smiles and excitement...but he just stared at us like he wasn't sure who we were. I picked him up and held him, and pretty soon he started crying and only wanted Nancy. It probably doesn't help that all of the attention was on him and was making him nervous, we should have toned it down just a little bit. But that is just a testament to how much he enjoyed being with Grandma and Grandpa...he didn't even want us to take him home!
Fun to see Alli before she left on her vacation...leaving Duke behind...another babysitting adventure for the Grubers
Thank you Grandma and Grandpa!
